About the Role

We are looking for an experienced consultant to design and implement innovative programmes that inspire and engage both new and existing members of the RIPE community. Key priorities for this role include transforming our fellowship programme into a vibrant and sustainable alumni network, re-imagining the RIPE NCC Community Projects Fund, and strengthening our support for national community development initiatives, including Network Operator Groups (NOGs) and academic meeting sponsorships.

In close collaboration with the External Engagement and Community Development teams, the consultant will develop frameworks and implement structures that align these projects and programmes with RIPE Community values and the RIPE NCC’s mission.

Key Deliverables

  • Frameworks Development: Develop comprehensive frameworks for both the RIPE Alumni Network and the Community Projects Fund.
  • Implementation Roadmap: Create detailed roadmaps with timelines, activities, and milestones for the alumni network and the Community Projects Fund.
  • Impact Framework: Design metrics and mechanisms to track the success of both programmes and ensure their long-term sustainability.
  • Platform and Tools Recommendations: Provide actionable suggestions for platforms, tools, and resources to support dynamic alumni and community project engagements.
  • Sponsorship Strategy: Develop approaches to attract sponsorships and partnerships to support the alumni network and Community Projects Fund.

Job requirements

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Proven experience in designing programmes that build sustainable and engaged communities.
  • Knowledge of strategies to inspire and connect technical and governance communities.
  • Experience managing grant programmes or community funds, including designing application and evaluation processes.
  • Strong project management skills, including managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to facilitate collaborative dialogue in technical and community-driven environments.
  • Familiarity with tools and platforms to support community engagement and online collaboration.
  • Expertise in sponsorship and partnership development.

The Community Development Department at RIPE NCC is dedicated to strengthening the global Internet community through outreach and events. We are a dynamic, outgoing, and collaborative team, passionate about connecting people, promoting collaboration and knowledge-sharing and addressing key technical and policy challenges. Our team is based throughout our service region, with colleagues in Amsterdam, the United Arab Emirates, Spain, Armenia, and Ukraine.
